What the Holidays Mean To Me…

As I sit back and reflect on another year gone by, I’m sincerely overwhelmed with the amount of love and support I have felt, not to mention the number of activities, memories, client projects, job opportunities and childcare duties I’ve experienced in just twelve months. General consensus seems to be that this year in particular went by extremely fast and I have to agree. Maybe it’s having 18-month-old twins, a six-year-old inquisitive daughter, my own business and a wonderful husband that speeds the clock forward but wow — no wonder I don’t get that much sleep with everything that’s happened in 2013.

Firstly, I can’t express how grateful I am for my family. My husband Dan and I have been blessed with three beautiful and healthy children, albeit a bit playground-beaten with some falls and 5 stitches to one little chin. I’ve always wanted to be a mom, but with my career and previous relationships, it was never quite the right time. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to get pregnant and carry until birth at a later age in life. Although I admit, when I have to be at a client meeting first thing and find myself rushing out of the house washing vomit off my blouse and downing three shots of coffee to combat sleep deprivation, I understand why children can be seen as a younger person’s game.

I’m also very appreciative that after two decades in the marketing and promotions industry The Regan Group is thriving, with fantastic clients and a great team. I love what I do and am always thrilled when we get a chance to work on an engaging new film or show, or a new piece of cutting-edge technology. The market and industry is evolving at a high pace and I’m proud to be on the front lines. We’ve been a part of some amazing campaigns and promotions this year, some of my personal favorites include: Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas Sweepstakes & Tree Lot Takeover, Hallmark’s Cedar Cove Experience, The Voice Sweepstakes, Sunmaid Back to School, and Irvine Company Black Friday.

Finally, I don’t think we would be able to accomplish everything we set out to do each day, let alone each year, without the support of friends and family. I have a long-standing set of good friends and family members who have been my sources of strength over the years. Women in general flourish with the outside help of their peers. I have always found it gratifying to be a mentor to other women, and ask for advice from my mentors — a continual source of inspiration and influence. While I rely heavily on my husband, sometimes I hope not too much, as I need him around for a long, long time, and I can always find humor and emotional nourishment from my girlfriends. It’s a great way to wind down a hectic day with a Sex And The City-type outing with some girlfriends coupled with drinks, food and much laughter.

The holidays provide a time for reflection and a renewed sense of hope for the future. I feel so fortunate and believe that the greatest gift we receive comes from what we give to others, so I tend to go a bit overboard with my holiday giving both to loved ones and strangers. Nothing like some Christmas music and charitable donations to bring you into the holiday spirit!

Wishing you and your loved ones a very wonderful holiday season. May the New Year bring you serenity, success and much happiness.
